|

I would be interested to know if anyone out there who has the Ipaq HX4700 and TTN5 upgrade with standard GB map combination is able to navigate to or find in map view, a petrol station from the built in TT POI's.
I have read many posts on this forum from people who can't, either TTN crashes to the today screen or the no POI found message is displayed but I can't find a post from someone who can with this combination.
It also appears from a number of posts here that there are issues with memory usage/leaks and exit freezes on the HX4700 as well as other VGA devices. Most of the other issues seem to be down to GPS receiver connection problems or personal preference rather than bugs.
I find it very hard to beleive that during the beta testing stages these issues with the HX 4700 were not discovered.
I wonder:
Did any of the beta testers have the HX4700? and if so, did they try to navigate to a petrol station in the UK? or was everyhing ok during beta testing and TomTom decided to mess up the POI's and introduce some memory problems before release?
The POI issue really is pi***ng me off. Why put them there if you can't navigate to them? |

have same but not had a chance to try that yet - mines keeps turning the Ipaq off and then when I turn it back on it resets in the process... that aint even using it - just letting it sit for 5 minutes doing nothing. |

I've exactly the same problem!
When I select map view it crashes to the today screen!
I have no problem with the GPS soft it recognizes my Bluetooth mouse without any problem!
What is the solution?
Thanks |

If you do find someone with it working then it points to something other than the Ipaq, possibly the type of SD Card?
I find it dificult to accept that they wouldn't have tested on that model!

Try disabling all built in POI's. |

mines is using the standard SD Card (as I have another post on that - just how do I install it to another (Larger) SD card?)
Have been able to navigate to POI and view maps though without problem... other than this random turninging off thing. |

I'm not convinced it's a memory card issue as I have tried SD and CF cards from different manufacturers and a microdrive, all with the same result.
Initially I thought it was a problem with the POI file but if so, surely it wouldn't be device specific.
TomTom's support department said they would pass my comments on to the developers!
Looks like we'll have to wait & see. |

Is that the one supplied by TomTom? |

I also don't think it is the POI file since I have tried all of the various maps on the 6 CD set and all give the same problem. Not always with Petrol Stations but with different POI categories. |

Just tried it on my HX4700, rom 1.10, 512MB Kingston Elite Pro SD card.
I enabled petrol station poi's, went into map view, found one on my map and selected navigate to, and it worked ok.
I've gone back to my SysonChip CF Plus card, had enough of the bluetooth GPS running out of battery life after a few hours of driving, and the bluetooth problems with TT5, bluetooth stays powered off, and I don't have the TomTom bluetooth thing installed.
I still have the screen lock up after its been navigating me for a while (although voice commands still sometimes work, even though the screen isn't updating) and the only way to recover is to soft reset and and start again.
Also have the ipaq freeze on exit. |

Hi Wilko

Using that method normally works Ok. You might like to try this:
From the map view tap the Cursor button (between Find and Done buttons) then select Find Nearby POI, then Petrol Stations.
Does that work?
