|
|
Hello there, I'm having problems getting my head around POI's.
For instance,I wanted Imperial War Museum Manchester, I did>>navigate from>>home>>to POI's in the city>>manchester>>museums, ok up to now I thought, but then it gave me the nearest museums (I live in Manchester) and they were all in the midlands plus a couple in London,no more.
I would have thought the pre-loaded POI's would pretty much cover most things (they are pre-loaded aren't they??I did dtry to download museums from a site on the POI-SYNC because of the lack of them on my Tomtom 5)).
I'm well confused about POI's and everything, please restore my faith in all this GPS business!!
I have tomtom5 on a Mio168 (very good PDA by the way).Sorry to prattle on...I'm not even drunk!! |

Unfortunately the built-in POI's leave a lot to be desired.
There is a museum category here, but I have not checked to see how comprehensive it is. _________________ Richard

To save you the trouble, I have added a .ov2 file to the zip file and you can download it from http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/oldboy/TomTomPOI/Museums.zip _________________ Richard

Oldboy, sorry to be a pain but can you tell me how to go about adding this file to my PDA/SD card, I see that it zips the file but then what? I'm quite new to this, also how would I add a file from that list without you adding an ov file to the zip file?? I realise this may take a bit of explaining but like I said I'm new to this, many thanks. |

Inside the original zip file there were 3 files. a .csv, a.bmp and a text file.
I used the .csv file to create the .ov2 file which is what you need for TT's. I used Makeov2 for that. I just recompiled the zipfile.
The .csv file is used by Navman as is.
All you need to do is Unzip the zipfile, using a program like WinZip and then copy the .ov2 and .bmp files to your Map Folder.
You can then Navigate To, or whatever you want with the POI.
I left the text file in so that you could see did the hard work. _________________ Richard
