I bought a SanDisk Extreme III 1Gb card and have loaded quite a few of the European maps onto it.
No problems at all with calculating routes, screen refresh etc etc.

Just make sure you buy a reputable make with a decent transfer speed. According to the tech blurb, the Extreme cards have a 20mb/sec read write speed (133x). I was originally going for the Ultra version, but this came up at a similar price :D

I tried a 1 Gb Sandisk Extreme III SD card too. I had all sorts of problems; mainly it wouldn't save any settings I saved.

On a related topic, can someone advise if when having the various European (&UK) map modules installed on a 1GB SD, its possible to plan a through route covering more than the one map module? For instance, a journey from Calais to Austria at a detailed level rather than utilising the European motorways only. I see that mainland Europe maps come as separate files, so France is on one, Germany, Austria on another.
Thanks,
Rich

I'm currently using a "regular speed" Scandisk 512Mb. Nothing "ultra" or "extreme" and it works just fine and holds all the European maps I intend using over the next 12 months. It appears to work faster than the card supplied with the Navman.

AFAIK the card that comes with the NAvman is MMC (look at the number of pins) whereas an SD card has more connectors and is inherently faster transferring data. MMC is an older standard, I think.

Just received a 1Gb 'Bravo' SD card from Ebay, uploaded all the UK maps, the European base maps, all UK Trig points and Geocaches, speed cameras, Pizza Huts and 2M amateur radio stations. No problems so far and have been out and about with it all day.

Cheers

Jon.
