Just had a lovely day out in Nottingham and travelled on the new tram system, commenting to my partner how much we had enjoyed ourselves. Upon returning to the car park, we were greeted by the sight of broken glass by the passenger door. They had smashed the lock (unsuccessfully) and then put the window through. The only things taken were the TTG, mount and charger, after forcing open the locked glovebox.

We had left the mount attached to the window, as we have done for many months. I suppose the moral/advice is not to leave the mount attached to the windscreen.

The car park had cameras, but I don't hold out much hope of them producing anything useful. The police weren't really interested and would not send anyone out to check for fingerprints.

To add insult to injury we were told that the car park we used (Phoenix Park) was the worst one for crime and vandalism.

Sad Evil or Very Mad

Sorry to hear that. My car was broken into on Easter last year and my Garmin was gone. Gave me a good excuse to get a TTG though... Laughing

Just tell them that before you parked your car, you did 36mph in a 30 zone, they'll be round your house like a shot.

Sorry to hear about day out in Nottingham. The response from the police is about typical in this area.
Just down from Pheonix Park, park & ride site, less than a quarter of a mile away is Nottingham's most prolific speed camera (A610 Nuthall Road inbound). This camera has caught more motorist's for speeding than any other camera in the whole of Nottm city & county.
Resources are always available for speed camera's but not for nicking Scum.

Bummer about the break-in.

Didn't that nice Mr Blair state he was going to "...stamp out crime ... stamp out the causes for crime". Oh yeah.

Regards,
Rich

We have POI updates for speed camera's....

What if there was a POI for 'scum' areas, ie. you are now entering a dodgy area - leave the german shepherd in the back of the car.

Just a thought

I think that'll included ALL of the UK then.

As the law stands, and they only get a warning Etc., or let off on bail, never to be seen again.

We to soft with laws these days.

Not quite sure how that would protect the GO. The oiks that nick them wont know they have pins so they will take them anyway. Even so they dont use them themselves just sell them on. So a pin wouldnt help you. Crying or Very sad

A much more effective theft prevention device would be to wire a high voltage electrical field to it. A few blackend fingures and they would soon learn.

Hi there
So sorry to hear about your loss - I know, I have suffered similarly and know how annoying/frustrating etc. it is. Some time ago I used to have one of those radio/CD things which had a removable front cover. However, I and some of my colleagues all had our cars broken into in our office car park and had them stolen - even those who had put them in their glove compartment had them nicked.
What we all took to doing (once we had replacements installed) was to always remove the fronts on them and not putting them in the glove compartments. We also always left our glove compartments open when leaving our cars in dodgy areas ( and some not so dodgy).
