|
|
I am a user of Mapsonic v. 1.32. It is time for upgrade, but I have serveral questions about the new version called Via Michelin Navigation.
I hope someone can answer (Via Michelin haven't answered yet!):
1. When will it be ready for sale/delivering?
2. Will it be ferry-distances in the routes?
3. Will it be one or more “by way of” or stop points in a route?
4. Will it be possible to turn a route quickly?
5. How new are the maps?
6. Is it instructions (by voice and signs) when necessary changing lanes?
7. Will it be possible to save routes for use later on?
8. What about TMC on GPRS?
9. Download upgrades, also maps? Also by GPRS?
10. What about Speed Cameras? Is it compatible with TomTom? 11 Is it possible to simply create a file for import in Via Michelin Navigation?
11. Can I import other POI to Via Michelin Navigation?
12. If I have to reinstall software om my PC and PDA, will my saved maps still work?
PS: Maybe this forum should change name to Via Michelin Mapsnic?

If your talking about Version 2.5 or £ i'll attempt to get you my experiences
1) Version 3 is available now (I know as I have it!)
2) Ferry routes - No!
3) No option 'by way of'!
4) If you mean recalculate a route - with a full uk map it takes 30 sec max (in my use of it)
5) The same as version 2.5
6) THe software announces the changes you need to make, in addition there is a graphic in the top left hand coner (with countdown distance) to indicate your next positional change
7) No
8) Can't answer as I don't understand what you are asking (my fault?)
9) Don't think you can download via GRPS, you have to buy the maps
10) Yes you can import POI's into Mapsonic (again I know as I have done it! - currently i am still struggling to import the icons for the Speed cameras but I use one of the built in ones until I can figure out how to do it!). I used POIedit and then the data from this website to convert to the correct format.
11) As long as they are in the correct format
12) No, maps from your version of the software are incompatible with 2.5+ If you saved your map onto an SD card they will crash the latest version (again, I know.....). |

I am looking at adding the speed camera POI to my Palm/Navigation. I have got stuck at what data to load into the Palm and how. I realise that it is in excel format, do you just dump it into the Palm?
Thanks |

Use the poi manager that comes with Mapsonic 2.5.
You need to convert the (tomtom?) ov2 file into asc (ascii) by using POIEdit
then just sync it in. |

Thanks both for the advice.
I had a further play last night and sorted it out by following the instructions on the link. I tried them out on a 30 ml journey around the M60/61 today and every single speed camera was identified well before I got to it. I am suitably impressed! |
