my new replacement bluetooth gps has stopped working. as the with one it replaced when you turn it on the blue light flashes and then only the green light comes on and stays on. both units worked initially with my HP6365. any ideas? Tomtom support dont seem to have any answers at the moment but i cant believe it is a unique problem but so far it has cost me the value of a replacement gps as mine was out of warranty and the new one does not work either |

If you've no good ideas to do with changes you may have made to the Bluetooth configuration, I'd soft reset one more time and try again.
If that doesn't get you going, I'd back up (ideally using the current version of Sprite Backup) then, once you've checked you can open your backup file and you've copied it to your PC for safekeeping, hard reset the iPAQ. That will rule out a variety of potential problems, especially to do with Bluetooth configuration.
I would not rely on the backup feature in ActiveSync - it can be impossible to restore an ActiveSync backup successfully.
If the GPS works after a hard reset, you need to figure out what is wrong with your 'live' configuration, or abandon it and set the iPAQ up again from scratch.
If the GPS doesn't work after the hard reset, you need to investigate further. Have you any other Bluetooth devices you can try the iPAQ with?

I have had this happen on 2 occasions. Sent it back to TomTom repair. After sending it back the 2nd time they sent me out a new one altogether. Works so much better for some reason. Touch wood it is yet to fail me.
It even picks up more satellites then my previous one did from the same location under my parcel shelf. My old one would only manage 7 satellites outside my house but the replacement they sent can get 11 in the same location.
Cheers

Thanks Guys,
the pda is working fine, i have just completed a rom update from HP requiring full new installation of all software. so the pda is fine.
the problem is definately the gps. i cannot 'find' the gps using either bluetooth on the pda or my pc. the blue light only flashes once when you turn the unit on and then not again.....
a greater problem i am now experiencing is that i am now not getting replies to my tech support emails from Tom Tom.... is there a problem there or am i just being ignored???? |

I contacted TT with the exact same problem (on 1st Feb). Within an hour they had got back to me with an RMA, no questions asked. So I assume they have seen this before.
Unfortunately I had to prod them before they acknowledged receipt of the dead GPS and I still haven't received a replacement or repaired one.
What are TT's normal turnaround times like? They quote 5 to 10 working days which I have comfortably exceeded?

Just a quick update. Still waiting for a replacement/repair. Not very impressive.
Looks like I'll have to hassle them again |
