|
|
I have just purchased the new Navman V3 software with 128 mb memory card and 4420 gps.
I already have the Version 2 software and GPS etc.
I am using this with an HP 2210 but the dam program will not run properly, it keeps saying that there is insuffient memory and shuts down the Bluetooth to operate, which is a fat lot of good, when you have a bluetooth gps.
Have you guys and gals had any problems such as this I know it is early days but the Navman support is rubbish and in fact no support at all

Yes, I've had these problems as well. I sometimes had this problem with V2 too, but it got worse after upgrading to V3. I believe part of the reason is a badly written BT driver in HP2210 combined with a high memory demand in SmartST V3. I managed to decrease the problems by installing BtRegTweak (can be found on the webb), but I still decided to change to a wired GPS receiver. The problems have disappeared after giving up the BT GPS receiver. Not a fully satisfactory solution, but it solved the problem. _________________ TomTom GO720T: App ver 8.351(9982/090518), OS:315187, GPS v1.20, Boot 5.5120

Uffe73 is correct. The BTregtweak does help with this. There is a similar problem with the rx3715 and the 4700.
Agreed, Navman's support isn't the best. How are you trying to contact Navman's support? |

Where did you find that information? Do the problems occur only with HP iPAQ 2210 or is it a general problem?

My Navman BT receiver works just fine with my iPAQ5555, running the latest ROM, and SmartST V3. _________________ Tim |

Gavin,
The SmartST V3 software that you have purchased to use with your bluetooth GPS receiver should not have been sold to you, due to the on-going problems with the iPAQ bluetooth manager. We are working closely with HP to remedy this, but until further notice, the V3 software will demonstrate problems when used with your PDA.
Kind regards,

According to Navman a SW patch for this can be expected by the end of March.

ps - there is a workaround provided you manage to get the **** thing installed and working.
However, given the formal nature of the correspondence shown earlier [points up there] this is given here purely on a user-2-user basis with no responsibilies assumed by self.
I can accept no responsibility for any untowardness given that the manufacturer seems to be revising the validity of having iPAQ h2210 as one of the compatible devices.
The answer, while using SmartST V3 on a 2210, is to be patient. It seems to be taxing the processing unit a bit too much particularly at starting and ending the program.
I guess I know why I have re-started visiting the forum again.
On my own 2210 once V3 is running it seems to run sweet. Issues do seem to revolve around starting V3 and exiting from the program.
I will not mention the SD card at all in this message |

As I run SmartSTv3 on a 2210, the contents of this thread is news to me?
I understood the problems being discussed here related to the newer iPAQ's such as the hx4700 and rx6710 as they had a new improved Bluetooth Manager. Also recent ROM versions (Dec 04 on..) for the new range of iPAQ rx3000 and hx4000 models upgraded the Bluetooth manager resulting in the same problems.
I admit I initially had a problem when first installed but for the last 3 months or so the software has been quite stable on my 2210. I certainly don't have a problem starting or ending the program so I am at a loss as to why this problem is happening to some 2210 users.
Any further info on symptoms would be appreciated. _________________ Ian.

Thanks for the input icsys
I'll keep an eye on things.
My iPAQ h2210 tends to get a fair bit of use - meetings, diary, topo software, word mostly and increasingly streetwise mapping in form of ST3.
My routine is almost getting to soft-reset first thing before starting ST3 - it seems better that way and it keeps BT present (sometimes the BT icons hide)
On occasions once linked to 4420 unit > start ST3 > BT unit disconnect
if lucky BT Manager > connect = BINGO!
if unlucky BT Manager > connect = not enough memory soft-reset immediately seems best option.
On a couple of occasions closing the out of memory notice then closing programs before soft-reset requires yet another soft reset (if that makes any sense)
Then there are time when 4420 unit shuts down after exiting ST3 - BT indicator on 4420 unit goes out. Some time later (I have not timed the gap but it is minutes maybe 1, 2 or 3) the 4420 switches on all by its sweet little self with a double blink.
I don't know if that helps at all - if there are any patterns of behaviour I'll post here |
