Hi Pc-mobile!
Firstly a big thank you - I won a 2.5mm xda connector in a www.pocketpcthoughts.com competition and it has proved very helpful - For anyone who has not used pc-mobile, they are a very good and efficient company.
Secondly - I have just bought a digitraveler GPS unit and wish to know if you can supply or make me a connector lead from the GPS unit to my XDA. I will be ordering it with a few other products if available
Please let me know here - I am in no rush as I am still waiting for the unit to be shipped.
Are your extendable earbuds available yet??
P.S. If anyone has recommendations where I can buy some cheap/good mapping software for the UK and Europe please let me know.
Thanks in advance
Jayman. |

Like the Axim, we have tried hard to ge hold of a Digitraveller from USA to no avail. We got the Axim only when it was available in UK, many months after it was released in USA.
Digitraveller is not sold anywhere else but USA and we have given up. Without an actual device, we cannot design/make any cable for it.
What extandable earbud? Are you referring to the Audio adapter for XDA? Hopefully it will be ready within the next 2 weeks.
We cannot give you any recommendation of software/hardware as use very few ourself to form an authorative opinion. But you should be able to find the infromation you need from this site. _________________ Pc-Mobile

I am a little confused by he website - I look on the UK ordering section and click to buy and seem to get directed to he same screen as if I had just gone to the product section first - IF I order online using credit card will PC Mobile note that it is a UK order and supply from the UK automatically or do I have to use the email payment method to get the order fulfilled from the UK office?
Regards

Not all the products are available from UK.
Generally, slow moving and specialised products are not available, nor are new ones naturally.
All GPS products (except very new release) should be available for dispatch from UK, whether you order online (pay by credit card) or use the NOCHEX payment method.

Note also that there is absolutely no support whatsoever from UK.
From time to time we get request for contact phone/address in UK. There is none!
Our UK agent's job is to send out goods upon our instruction, and that is it. They do not know the difference of a jack from a plug. So aftersale support can only come from us in Hong Kong, whichever way you have made the order.
This arrangement cost us a lot more than if we had sent the orders out from Hong Kong, but for the benefit of our UK customers.
I hope UK customers appreciate this and understand the aftersale support arrangement, if ever it was needed.

Got cable this morning - thank you.
Have one slight problem in that i can get it to both sync and charge with my desktop computer but it does not seem to work with my Toshiba Portege 4000 laptop - it seems to work for a couple of seconds and then does not syc or charge - any thoughts - my compaq supplied cradle work with both.

What was it you have? And what did you do? What happened?
I mentioned this in other topics before, Toshiba Laptop hardware tend to be non standard, particulary with the ports (IR in particular).

Rob, I tend to get this with the one that Expansys sell on my IBM Laptop. What I find sometimes is a full power down, restart of the laptop and the first thing I do is run up Active Sync, and then connect the sync cable and it will work. A few times I've had to try this 2 or 3 times to get it to work. The other problem I've also had is running it off of a hub or on anything other than the root USB socket (some laptops have two sockets and only one is considered as root). |

Another thing to look for is the setting of the laptop.
USB power from a laptop can be very low. Make sure there is not power management setting that may cause it not to work.
If the cable works in a desktop, it should work in another PC. It contains only straight wiring with no electronics. There is no reason for the cable itself to work in one PC and not another. _________________ Pc-Mobile
