tom tom or smart st v3?

i know these questions are asked all the time so i am sorry to ask again but...

after reading all the info i think i am going to get smart st v3. however tom tom still appleas and i have a few questions about it.

it seems 3rd party as can be used with tom tom. im not really sure if i want this as they usally cost but does st v3 offer any mothed of this? (warner or postcode thing).

also whats this overlay thing in tom tom and the thing where you can cancell something to let it know your on the right route and stop it from rerouting?

if you have used both any reason why you would get one over the other?
