I have just got this device, the Yakuma Delta 300 gps Pocket PC. It has built in GPS, and uses Marcopolo Mobile navigator. This is fine, it seems to work well, but add-ons are rather limited. For example I cannot find an add on to warn me of speed camera's etc.

Now here is my stupid question. On this device, do I have to use the marcopolo software or can I use software from another company?

If the answer is yes, what is the best you guys recommend? Oh, I am UK based (if that makes a difference)

The chances are that your Pocket PC is yet another rebadged version of the Mitac Mio 168. Almost certainly you can run another software if you wish. What to buy depends on what you're looking for - there's various good choices which have differing strengths and weaknesses.

Thanks for that! I am actually looking at Tom Tom V3. Any reports on it?

TomTom Navigator 3 is a very popular choice, though you must remember that the maps are now a year old and don't include newer roads like M6 Toll and the A43 Silverstone bypass. If you can live with the maps, it's fantastic software.

I expect a new version (most likely using the "common platform" software used in the HP Navigation Pack and the new USA / Canada TomTom Navigator 2004 software) some time around Easter. If TomTom act as they have done previously, the version upgrade will be somewhere around £40, or just a handling charge of around £7 for those who purchased the existing version very close to the upgrade being announced. However, there's no guarantee as to when a newer version will become available, or how much it will cost.
