Hi there guys,

I have a problem in that I have a Compaq iPAQ 3970 together with a Fortuna Clip-On BT receiver. I am using Tomtom3.
I've managed to install Tomtom3 successfully and it seems to work, however I havn't managed to get both PDA and GPS receiver to work together.
I have tried a lot of different settings, obtained from the fortuna documentation and this website. However none seems to work successfully.
I was wondering whether anyone out there has an answer to this problem.
If you do, then please feel free to post a reply on this matter.

Regards

here's what you need to do

- softt reset
- remove TomTom GPS driver
- soft reset
- make sure the TomTom GPS driver is really removed. If not, try again.
- install TomTom GPS 2.07 (from our downloads page)
- in BT Manager, find the Fortuna and connect to its serial port
- Start > Settings >System > GPS - go to the GPS tab and select NMEA 38400 in the top dropdown and Bluetooth COM8 in the bottom dropdown
- check the checkbox
- go to the status tab and see if the black dots are running

Thanks for the help matey, however after doing all of the above I still do not get any black dots in the status tab. Maybe ther's something I'm not doing.
Do I need to uninstall Tomtom3 Navigator first?

No, the TTN is not of concern at that time.

Can you confirm that you REALLY have the TomTom GPS 2.07 installed? What does the version number say?

Have you tried a GPS utility like Crux_View?

Hi there,
I have tried that as well, and I get the same error as last time. I don't know what else to do.

Looks normal, and COM8 should work. Do you have a chance to test other BT gear with the iPAQ?

Yes I agree it should work, but for some strange reason it doesn't. I can get the iPAQ to bond with the BT receiver and the blue led on the receiver seems to flash very quickly, which is a good sign. And so everything seems to be up and running till that point.
However nothing happens after that, in that there is no visable indication that anything is happening.
I do have other BT gear, namely a BT phone, which I have used sucessfully. I sent a contacts contact details via BT to my iPAQ and it worked on the first try. So I know it does work, now all I need to do is get the iPAQ and the BT receiver to work . Easier said that done I suppose.
