Hello Dave,
I've a T-mobile MDA II (Intel Xscale 400MHz) with PPC 2003
I've installed the ttn3 and also the Oziexplorer
ttn3 is running without problems.
But the Oziexplorer don't find the Tomtom bt gps
I've already deinstalled the tomtom gps driver. After that ttn3 hung up during start and Oziexplorer did'n't find the gps either.
I've installed the previous version of gps driver (2.07): ttn3 did work but oziexplorer not. After deinstall of 2.07 ttn3 wasn't running anymore again, and oziexplorer didn' find the gps again.
So, Dave, what can I do? Can you tell me which setting oziexplorer needs and which gps driver must be installed, that i can run both applications?
Give tomtom also support to these questions?
Thanks for your help, Stefan |

How about completely removing TomTom and only running OziExplorer? You can also use a diagnostics tool like Emtac Crux_View. Probably you just selected the wrong COM Port. Try COM5 or COM 8, and make sure you set the protocol to NMEA at 38400 _________________ Lutz

Dear lbendlin,
Your idea to deinstall ttn3 is not satisfying.
Of course I will run ttn3 and Oziexplorer.
ttn3 for the streets, Oziexplorer for the tracking routes.
As I read in this forum, it is possible to run ttn2 and Ozi.
So please help me to do the same with ttn3.
Thanks a lot, Stefan |

first things first. To isolate your problem you should deinstall ttn3. Once Ozui is running fine you can then re-install ttn3, and then fix the tt GPS issue that will occur with the TTN install _________________ Lutz

As Lutz has said, you need to uninstall TTnav completely to assist in isolating the cause.
When you say TTnav worked using v2.07 of the driver but OziExplorer did not, can you be ceertain that TomTom had exited and was not running as a background process when you attempted to launch Ozi as there is no reason why Ozi and TomTom cannot coexist on the same unit and uising v2.07 of the GPS driver they should both be able to access the BT GPS. _________________ Darren Griffin |

|

Dear lbendlin,
Now I tested to install tt GPS 2.07:
First, I deinstalled all TomTom programms.
After that, I installed 2.07 (downloaded form your website link) succesfully (without failures, messages,...).
After softstart and starting "TomTom GPS" I receive now following message on my PDA screen: "No GPS Engine. Please re-install."
I get no connection to the TT BT GPS (with Ozi Explorer)
Please help me. (Is this a MDA II Problem?)
I nearly get crasy...... |

On your PDA, do a soft reset. Then go to Start...Settings..System...GPS and see if the 2.07 GPS driver did really install (it sounds to me that it didn't...) If you can't find that icon, try copying the CAB file directly onto your PDA and execute it there.
Do not run TomTom until you got the GPS applet up and connected.
If that works then you should also be able to setup Ozi with the proper COM8 port.
You have created the BT connection to the serial port profile, have you? _________________ Lutz

Guys the issue seems to be with the XDA2/MDAII, not with the applications.
There were locking issues with some TomTom GPS versions, but ie version 3.03 should not give a locking issue.
As explained on the Ozi website the way of communicating used by Ozi is not compatible with the BT implementation on the XDA2/MDAII.
Pocket Bluetooth Tools should give a solution, but I dont want to use that as it gives other issues. _________________ eDsuB

Can you show us the link to that info on the Ozi site? _________________ Lutz

Sure:
http://www.oziexplorer.com/
Then Support / OziExplorerCE / GPS Faq / PocketPC2003 and Bluetooth issues. Its under "Bluetooth Tools section" on that page.
or: http://216.218.220.254/ozice/faq_ppc2003.html
I appears to me that Ozi uses a different way of acquiring GPS data than all/most other applications. _________________ eDsuB
