Tomtom Traffic

Does anyone use the traffic service on Tomtom. I understand that it uses GPRS from a mobile phone, my concern is, that being an "always on" system that it will add a big cost to my mobile phone bill.
Also, how does it compare to Trafficmaster?

but it doesn't matter how long you are connected with o2 you can be connected for all day but you only pay for the time you spend updating traffic

same goes for all gprs providers, you only pay when data is transferred. TomTom traffic can be configured to poll at set intervals, ie. every 15 minutes. The data transferred by TomTom is highly optimized as well so even pulling a hundred traffic incidents only takes a few kilobytes.
