Not sure if anyone else has experienced this, I've been searching but found nothing.

I installed CoPilot from the quickstart Mini-SD card and all worked fine. I then decided to add in the Speed Camera database to the inbuilt POI list.
I followed the instructions for importing and then downloaded all the data to the Mini-SD card afresh and re-installed.

Now the problem is that all POI (existing and new speed cameras) are only visible when stationary. When I am moving they all disappear ! I can temporarily fix this by switching views which shows all the POIs on the new view up until the point where I come to a stop. As soon as I move again they all disappear again.

Anyone any idea what might be causing this ? I have all POI settings switched on in Options, and have uninstalled and re-installed twice now.
I can't remember if it ever worked ok but I guess it must be something I broke upon updating the installation.

Welcome! :D

This has been noticed before and apparently the POI disappearing is a "feature" of CoPilot. Personally, I think it is a negative feature. Confused :x

thanks for the reply.

a feature, really ? I'd been through several reviews and every screenshot showed a moving icon with various POIs visible. I assumed they were normally there and that I had some sort of problem. I must have also missed where this 'feature' was mentioned in the manual !

Sorry for not checking more carefully and thanks for clearing it up for me.

I don't know the exact reason why POI's are only viewable when stationary, but I'll drop a suggestion in here. TomTom Mobile has been having huge problems displaying over 1000 POI's on a map, I believe this is due to the low (or lack of) memory available on the SmartPhones, so it's quite possible that this has been disabled to stop a dramatic slow down in CoPilot.

They will have difficulty showing large numbers of POIs but it shouldn't be a problem to display the few that will be visible at the sort of zoom levels you get whilst driving. On one of the few times I've actually had a response from ALK they said that the disappearing POIs was designed that way to avoid distracting the driver.

you see I don't find them a distraction at all. In fact it's easier to check your real progress matches the indicated progress by seeing if you do in fact have a petrol station on your right, than a road junction etc.

also if you're driving down the motorway a visual indication of a hotel or petrol station approaching simply isn't going to happen ! I suppose you have the notifications but few people have them switched on for every category.

but if I switch views (say to 3d map) it shows all the POIs quite happily until I halt and resume again, at which point they promptly disappear ! doesn't seem to produce any memory errors / problems.

also I understand the safety argument, but it really should be a switchable menu option.
