NavMan 4410

Hi everybody! I got a Navman 4410 + iPaq 2210 + SmartST v2 sp2. It works but not so fine. Sometime it misses location (i.e. after a tunnel) and I have to wait a lot of time before it gets the position again. Any suggestion? Confused

You need to give the GPS receiver a better view of the sky by the sound of it. Where is it currently positioned and how many satellites do you normally show as using (Green segments)?

Does SP3 apply to the software in question

if it doesn't then Embarassed

but if it does then perhaps it might benefit Sandro to download the SP as one of it's attributes is to help with acquisition times isn't it Question

No, SP3 is for the iCN range only. SP2 is the latest for the PPC version of the software.

Ah Well

it was just a thought. Still I'm sure somebody will sus out Sandro's problem for him, it's not something I've ever come across using tthe iCN, although I am not really sure if SP3 does give you a quicker GPS acquisition time. I went out the other morning and from the time I switched on outside of my garage until I got a fix was a good five minutes, admittedly I was driving.

I will experiment with my Navman BT unit this evening and let you know my results somethime tomorrow.

What is a Telepass TX, by the way? Is it a reradiating antenna? It couldb be that by using the external antenna, albeit inside the car, and a reradiating antenna that you're confusing the GPS, as it would be getting each signal twice!

Hi Sandro,

Good to see that your peformance is better now that you have the correct baud setting. Also, I now understand that your Telepass isn't a re-rad so this shouldn't pose a problem. Please do let us know how your tunnel test went. I used to have my external antenna inside the boot window, but have now moved it onto the roof as it gives much better performance outside the car.
