Tracking-GPS with street-input?

Most waypoint roadless terrain GPS are too specialized. I would like to see a entry-level minimalistic AA-driven GPS with a compass-arrow showing realtime as-the-crow-fly direction to an optional street-input, in relation to the four cardinal points. Plus realtime number of as-the-crow-fly meters/km to the goal.

Garmin-style, but geared towards basic street-pedestrian use rather then roadless way-points only. Thats it. That really the only thing I need. I dont have a car, so I dont want all the bells and whistles associated that.
