I have been reading about a gadget that will transmit, usually MP3s, from the PDA to be received on the car radio. If this could be made to interrupt the cd/tape in the same way a traffic anouncement does on RDS it would be cool. Does anyone know if this can be done? |

The FM Transmitter devices can't operate the same as an RDS transmission, whilst this is technically possible they don't contain the electronics necessary to transmit the code tone that triggers RDS.
Another problem is that in the UK these devices are illegal as they transmit on bands that require licences. Ofcom are known for coming doen very heavily on people caught transgressing the WT laws so it is best avoided. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I did try an Arkon mount that had an FM transmitter. The quality was terrible - kept drifting off frequency then I drove into an area where the chosen frequency was that of the local radio station. I found it much easier to use a "dummy" cassette that plugged into the audio jack of the PDA. |
