Hi all,

I have a Qtek2020 (XDAII) and purchased a haicom 204s system.
I also installed tom tom 3. Now, when I want to setup the gps, i can choose between:

Infrared Port
Com4:
Com5:
Bt on com6
Serial Cable on Com1
Com9
Com2
Serial on USB
Bluetooth GSP

I figure I have to use "serial cable on COM1", but when I check the box, I always recieve: cannot open com1: port does not exist.

What can I do? I tried other ports, but no succes...

TIA

Winny

I don't know if this will help, but on the XDA-I the Infra-red port tied up the COM port.

Try going to, Settings, Connections, Beam and unticking Receive Incoming Beams.

HTH,

Also clip-on keyboards or external keyboards often use a driver that locks COM1, some of these drivers can be de-activated in software, other require removal to restore access to COM1.

:D Thanks for this advice; in my case I got the message: cannot open com1: port does not exist.
It was because of the driver of the foldable keyboard I use; after removal (settings) the GPS was found and it's functioning very well (Ipaq 3970 with Haicom gps 204s)

All you have to do is disable the driver (untick the connected/ActiveSync/Enabled box) in the driver applet and you can use your bottom COM port.

It depends on the make and model of keyboard, following installation most have a configuration applet under 'Settings' or possibly even 'Programs'.

Not all however include the facility to turn On/Off their COM Port driver, if yours does then you can leave it installed and just turn it ON when you need it otherwise you need to remove it when ever you need access to COM1 which is far from convenient Sad

I'm just about to go and see if the navigator is working, i'm quite sure it is as i did not receive a com port warning when i tried starting the navigator up.
