I have a CoPilot GPS jacket on my IPAQ 3950, which came as part of the IPAQ Navigation System V2 (INS V2).
I have been very pleased with the results using the fairly old version of Copilot software that it came with, and now using Tom Tom 3, having installed the Serial Driver on this site.
I can't however get it to work with Memory Map. In the gPS setup screen, I am choosing NAVMAN 3000 on COM4: CoPilot-iJacket_GPS2....
I just keep getting a "GPS:Communictation Timeout" error. I'm not sure whether this means I have comms with the hardware, but it is not locking on to any birds, or the hardware is not talking to the software.
I have tried installing the older version of the Navman 3000 driver that is on the Memory Map ste (3.1.1 I think) but this did not help.

It is probably the age old problem of TomTom seizing the GPS com port for its own use, even when you are not running TomTom. Also TomTom and Memory Map cannot be running, even in the background, at the same time.
If you uninstall "TomTom~GPS" once from the PDA (NOT via the PC and active synch), it does not stop TomTom from working and Memory Map should now work. Don't try and uninstall it twice, as the second time will really uninstall it. You will need to do this every time you upgrade the TomTom GPS program to a newer version.
If this goes wrong, you just install the TomTom GPS program again.
You will find this information and similar in various forums on Pocket GPS World.
