Not explicitly as far as I can tell... but if you calculate a route and don't like it (or know it not to be the quickest for whatever reason) you can select "calculate alternative" i think, which will give a different way of getting to your destination. i haven't worked out if the recalculation works in any particular way (it might go fastest-shortest-main roads only-back roads only etc)... |

If you press "re-calculate route" you get the shortest. |

It's fact.
I was going to Batley from Blackpool. First it gave me 78 miles via M62, timed at 1 hour 35.Then i did a re-route, distance then was 65 miles via "A" roads, this was timed at 2 hours. |

Not always, I planned routes and then re calculated the route and the 2nd option is sometimes longer and also uses motorways. |

I can now confirm that this is not a fact!
I tried to take alternative route 4 times and everytime the route whas longer and took longer time.
IŽll miss the choice of shortest/quickest calculation. |

:P I have noticed that with the latest TomTom Go Firmware that you can take a diferent route, and TTG just updates itself without any moans or groans. This saves having to set a road block etc. With the earlier firmware I think that it would tell you to turn aroung and go back. Truly a great product |

I agree! For the first week I had mine I kept on deliberately ignoring the instructions and taking a different route just for the pleasure of watching it calculate a new route. The nearer you are to your destination the faster it recalculates. Even on a long route it's never taken more than 5 seconds.
Although it's only a 200Mhz processor I think the increased speed comes from a combination of better algorithyms in the software and increased refresh rates for the screen. |
