Does anyone know of any good Mac based GPS systems?
I was thinking about buying a Pocket PC and Tom Tom, but I'm not sure Tom Tom works with Macs. The reason I wanted Tom Tom was because it seems to be well supported by the speedcamera database. If I did this, though, I'm thinking I might have to go to a mate's house every time I wanted to update the Maps/POI. Is this true?
Hope all this makes sense and that someone can help!
Cheers,
Dom
P.S. I don't want to buy a Palm. |

If you only have a MAC and not a PC then you will find that none of them will install because all PPC based systems will require ActiveSync, and the installers are PC based. You may be able to set this up on Virtual PC, but you really need a PC or to purchase a pre-installed system like TomTom GO, or Street Pilot 2620. |

Not necessarily - you could copy the CAB files onto the SD card and install them directly on the device. |

Unfortunately it's not just cab files that need to be copied across. |

Well, the maps as well, I suppose... I install TomTom a LOT, and the way I do it is by copying the maps and the CAB files to the SD card, then just running the CAB files. Total time (including SD copying) takes about 3 minutes and then register it at ttcode.com
I suppose a simpler answer could be to find a friend with a PC and install it there. |

Cool. I think I'll do that (the friend thing).
Thanks again. |
