ok i have tomtom 5 running on palm zodiac and it works fine with tomtom gps unit.
unfortunately i cant use the tomtom unit and i bought a BT77 unit off ebay to use with it. i had success with this unit on my nokia ngage running route66 but the zodiac can connect to it but only for seconds before losing connection and very strange behavior making it unusable.
any other got experience of bt77 gps unit (off ebay)
can i upgrade firmware??
will this help??
ive tried connecting to the gps unit with my pc and the software trhat came with gps unit to see (er i dunno really just a last resort)
but my bliuetooth pc software assigns the gps unit ports 31 and 32 and the gps software only lets me choose 1-15.
can anyone help me?
can anyone tell me where to get new firmware and how to update it?
can any locals do it for me (burton on trent)
yours pleading
kind regards
sorry for similar post but its hard to see wheres best on such a massive forum |

the BT77 is a bit of a crappy receiver, but it should normally work with the Palm. Can you try if Mapopolis sees it?
As for your second problem (PC) you are using the MS XP SP2 bluetooth stack - that's a problem for older programs. Use the Widcomm/Broadcom stack instead, that one allows YOU to set the Com port (and not Billy boy) _________________ Lutz

crappy :O(
ive had a year of perfect reception with it, never loses sats and locks on before my phone strts up, my problem is that tomtom5 and palm nav hate it . it will connect straight away but loses signal before i can use it and it wont come back unless i reset (sometimes i may get it back with a struggle but it loses it again as soon as tomtom speaks or anything)
double checked it on my ngage with route 66 and it works fine on there still.
also i tried my dads genuine tomtom gps unit today and that works fine, there just seems to be a prob with the bt77 and zod??
palmos device
app version 5.000 (4890)
free ram 6.7mb
gps driver 1.20
map version 256
is there another gps driver other than 1.20 |

oh one thing i 4got is when the bt77 connects to my tt5 zod and shows my position i can actually drive around with it updating where i am for a good few minutes sometimes up to40 mins before i got to my dest, the prob comes when trying to put a route in it either loses it straight away (90percent of time) or by the second voice message(very rarely i get this far)
as i mentioned i tried the tomtom silver gps unit yesterday and the it works fine so i guess im just looking for a suggestion before im forced to buy another gps |

Did you actually manage to put tomtom working on the zodiac2?
If so, how?
Thank you |
