|
|
Hi, I just purchased the Copilot 4 live including a compact flash GPS receiver from ALK/travroute. Installing on my Dell AximX5 worked fine, and the receiver finds 4-7 satelites with good(green) signal intensities, but it takes hours to get a fix and once this has happened, I do not get updates for the position anymore... so no routing, etc.
any ideas? or is it just a faulty system and I should return it?

Is this when installed 'in-car' or does the same apply when stood out in the open? _________________ Darren Griffin |

It happens everywhere (in-car/outside, with and without external antenna (although the antenna increases signal strength), with and without external power supply). |

This could be an issue with the Axim, Axim's have had a bum deal with GPS, many people have had problems with CF GPS cards like the SysOnChip CF Plus.
Although it could be a faulty GPS card, I'd put my money on the Axim! Sorry, it's probably not what you wanted to hear! |

...did a hard reset and did NOT install the update/patch which I installed before (ALK offeres a patch for Axim X5 users with PPC 2002 on their web site). now it works fine!!!
maybe this helps other people? |
