8O Has anyone actually bought an Axim X30 off Dell's UK Website?

As noted elsewhere the X5 and X3 are advertised with TomTom Navigator 3 software, whilst the X30 doesn't name any software. Sad

Again, elsewhere people have been told by Dell (me too) that X30 ships with TomTom 3. BUT, someone else (based in the US) posted a review at http://www.bargainpda.com/?newsID=2156 and concluded it was a different software package. Rolling Eyes

So - is there different software for the US and the UK?? Confused

Is it worth getting a wired X3 versus a Bluetooth X30?

Dead confused, but appreciative of any help!!!

There must be different software for the US - we don't have TomTom 3 here (only 2.24)

..it does say that the Axim and the software will be shipped seperately, which makes me think that it's not as bundled as I first thought.

It was myself who asked a question about what s/w came with the X30 bundle & as per Lutz's reply I'm convinced it's not TomTom. The spec of the s/w mentioned matches with Dell's spec (minimum PC requirements & map coverage etc.).

I now have 3 Dell people tell me it's TomTom but I'm still not convinced. I've sent Dell an email about this & they have not replied (3 days ago).

One of the Dell web pages last week had a picture on the BT bundle & it show'd the same velcro cradle as in your link.

I guess if you've been told it's TomTom & it turns out it is not then you have the right to return even if the s/w is opened (assuming the packaging doesn't obviously state otherwise) and in anycase with the new distance selling regs you have the right to cancel within 7 days. (UK law)

Please do let us know what you find out. But at Dell's loss I'm sure I will have bought elsewhere by then. Thanks.

BTW, If your going to order online please take note of the advertised prices, I have seen the prices vary over the last couple of weeks! & what you see on the main Axim page is often different from the checkout. Not impressed with Dell.

Hi All,

Hopefully I can clear up some cunfusion, as I have just bought the Dell Axim X30 (High) with Bluetooth GPS.

There seems to be some confusion at Dell as when I ordered the Bluetooth GPS bundle, I received Tom Tom 3 with a wired GPS receiver (as advertised as being supplied with the X5 and X3 solutions).

After a few phone calls to Dell, I eventually convinced them this was wrong as the GPS unit was wired and the software should not have been Tom Tom 3.

Anyway, I can confirm the kit as supplied is the spec as shown in the BargainPDA review.

The software is Dells own, although I understand it's a modified version of the Prymnav software.

In the package you get (over and above the basic Axim)

* Winscreen mount pda holder (sort of velcro sleeve)
* Cigar lighter power, including Y-adapter to power PDA and GPS receiver.
* Dell Navigator Software (3Cds UK/Europe, 2 Cds USA - UK Europe includes UK and european maps).
* Dell Bluetooth GPS Receiver.
* 128Mb SD Card

For reference, I paid £434 including delivery and VAT.
