ipaq 2215 and wired gps version of tomtom 3

Hi,
I've just just purchased a tomtom navigator 3 and I can't seem to open COM 1. Everytime I try to start tomtom it says that it couldn't open COM1 and that it doesn't exist.

Has anyone got any ideas how I can fix it ?

Here's 1 cause:-

Are you syncing your Ipaq via the serial lead to the computer? If you are and the IPaq is connected to the computer whilst you open TTN3, the GPS when it opens automatically looks for Com 1, which in this case is in use and comes up with the error message you have.

If that is the case, take the Ipaq from it's cradle and it should open OK.

If it's not that, I'm sure there will be others with far more knowledge than I have that will help you.

Unfortunately I'm trying it in the car.

I'm using a rikaline gps with the supplies cables.
