Similar to what trafficsign mentioned a few posts ago, we have a road near us, Old Dalkeith Road, Edinburgh, where about five years ago, the 40 limit was reduced to 30. Similarly all 40 repeaters were removed and nobody even noticed and continued to drive at about 45 in the now 30 limit. After several complaints, the Local Authority put up advisory signs saying "New Speed Limit - 30". After five years, is this NEW speed limit not an OLD one now ?
When should signs warning of new roundabouts, new traffic lights, new road layouts, etc, get taken down again ? _________________ Tommo...

Six months is fair as it is for the benifit of the locals who may have become complacent to their surroundings, anyone else should be paying attention since they would be driving in an unknown area. No excuse! _________________ Dom

I suspect this is sign 7032 which is supposed to be used for precisely this situation (because you can't install the smaller repeater signs in a 30 limit.
This link on the Association of British Drivers site gives details and the official working in the regulations regarding it's use (has to be removed 6 months after the limit came into force). _________________ Gerry

It's not a 7032. It's a white plate with black wording and a very small 30 sign beside it. It looks official but not so in your face as the 7032. It's been their for years any way as I said. I will contact the council. _________________ Tommo...
