Gave ogg files a go with my TomTom One v2 and it still asks for a alert sound ?
TomTom One V2, App 7.120, Maps v660.1219
Can they be used with this unit ? _________________ Alistair

When it asks you "is this the correct sound" and presents a list of available beeps/ bells, cows etc simply answer "Yes" without selecting anything at all and the unit will pick and use the ogg file.
Do not press "No" otherwise the device will lock up, the only way around this (once locked up) is to press the reset button.
When you have the warnings set-up use Advanced planning AtoB to set up a route that passes a camera, then use Route Demo to try it and make sure the warnings are indeed working, there are some detailed instructions on this see #5 on This Page - Mike |

Hi all,
Does anybody know if the .ogg files will work on the new TT 520?
Cheers. |

They work fine on the x20 devices, just bear in mind when it asks the question about "is this the correct sound" you have to answer Yes (even though it plays no sound) - if you answer No the deice will lock up displaying a message about missing pictures. A reset will cure this problem though - Mike |

Thanks for the prompt reply. Much appreciated.
Am I right in thinking that I can just download the relevant 'voice alert collection' and unzip it straight into my UK maps folder next to the ov2 and bmp file for the pocketgps speed cameras POI's then reset each POI warning as you've described above? |

If you do what you have described in the previous post then it will all work fine, so I guess you understand whats required, if you get stuck just ask you know where the forum is.
One bit I will add is once you have configured all the POI use
AtoB (advanced planning) and set a
Departure point:
FY43NN House 95
Destination:
PR41AX House 33
Next set route demo going to play back your warnings, the route offered above will give a number of different camera warnings as the device leaves Blackpool on a virtual drive (cheaper than burning fuel to see if it works) - Mike |

Cheers Mike, you're a fountain of knowledge.
Just about to try it.
Thanks again,

Hi Mike,
Hit a glitch! Each time I update the individual POI's to include the .ogg files it plays a confirmation sample after I've done so. Each one says 'gatso 30' not 'gatso 40, gatso 60, etc'.
Am I doing something wrong? |

Which Speed Camera database and ogg file sets have you installed to the device? - Mike |

Speed zoned version with 'bing bong chime'. I think I know what it is though. as I'm using the TT to update the POI alerts it's picking up a mobile (30) that I've set in an adjacent street to where I live. Sorted. I said gatso in my previous post. Should have been mobile. Sorry.
Another issue, there doesn't appear to be .ogg files for the pmobile cameras. Is this correct? Is there a work around for this or do you have to chose one of the standard TT sounds? |

One with a chime, and one without the chime. _________________ Richard

I have installed the .ogg files successfully and run a demo around various safety camera sites (using TT Home on my PC) and it works fine. I've disconnected the device and run the same demo. The voices alerts are very slow. The young lady's voice now sould like a drunk man!
Can you help? |

Interesting....
First thing to try is a reset.
Other than that, the only thing I can think of so far is if you've somehow used a version for TomTom Navigator on a PDA that uses a lower sampling frequency. But you say it sounds OK when using the "virtual" machine in Home?
I'll try a few experiments... |

Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion. Tried this, seems to have done the trick.
Thanks again.
