It appears that Mike's database does not include the continental cameras and some of the bmp files would need to be converted to colour bitmap to show up on the i3.

Which bitmaps are you referring to?

I checked all the bitmaps on my i3 and they all worked.

The continental cameras were deliberatly not included to keep the number of POIs down a bit. When I get the Garmin POI Handler page up and running they will be included in that.

The mobile_60 and mobile_tba appear to be in monochrome unless I am reading them wrong
No problem in saving them as 16 bit colour

Oops.

I thought I had gone through and checked all of them. Not quite sure how that happened as I did convert all the files. I will change it when I get home after the weekend.

You need to buy them - they are about £160 for the City Select Europe v7 CDs, and in the UK are only available as part of an automotive kit for another Garmin unit. I bought it this way from www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk

Once you have the software (you can't download it from anywhere - it's huge) you'll need a new tranflash card for your unit to download the bits of Europe you want. If you download to the card that came with the unit it will overwrite everything that is currently on there.

Alternatively you could wait for Garmin to release their Europe maps for the i3 - they'll probably be about £70 per card, and they are releasing 7 different cards to cover all of Europe.

Hope that helps.

Have also e-mailed Garmin asking for clarification on the updated maps for both my i3 units. Will be well p'd off if they did release and then didn't give to the 'early adoptors'.

Will post as soon as I get anything.

Halfords are selling the i3 for £199 including setting up.

Just had a closer look at the Maplin 4 page leaflet they sent me, on the back page at the bottom it says:

PS.

This month's offers are only valid between 10th September-8th October 2005 so make sure you get your order in to avoid disappointment.

If that is not misleading then what is?

Anyone know if I can edit certain entries that were on the i3 when it left the factory, ie. in My Favourites it shows mileage to Garmin Europe and Taiwan. I would like to delete these and a few other non essential locations.

simple ,click on the one you want to delete scroll down to 'delete' and there you go.....you might have to have version 2.5 firmware to do this though.

Has anyone upgraded from v2.4 to v2.5?
Can you tell me what the benefits are?
garmins website lacks this info.
I am so happy with current performance (v2.4) that I am reluctant to rock the boat!

Changes from 2.40 to 2.50:

1) Corrected issue that could prevent display of
Initial Setup Wizard.

2) Corrected potential lock-up while drawing map.

3) Modified Voice Language Processing to display
percent complete.

4) Added ability to clear entire entry screen. Select
"Delete" on keyboard display then press and hold wheel.
