Next time I go out, I'll put my 'intelligent speed limiter' on and see what actually happens when I enter a slower area.
What I do know though, is if the speed limiter is actively holding my speed to the limit, if I put my foot down, it overrides it.
With my ISL, if you enter a slower area it will show a warning (and squawk if you're "too much" above the limit). The limiter cuts off the power, but it doesn't apply the brake - that's up to the driver to control.
I can override the limiter, either by kickdown on the accelerator, or by pressing the limiter's Cancel button.

That sounds about right for my 10G Honda as well. I managed to get it squawking at me yesterday when I tried the kick-down. My Adaptive Cruise Control does apply the brakes if you are getting too close and makes you look like an amateur.
I did have my pedestrian collision mitigation detector kick in for me the other day as an old geezer crossing the road only just made it to the pavement, when it kicked in and applied the brakes for about 100mSec or so until it realised that the old boy was walking from the road, not to it. I had the brake pedal covered anyway.
The most modern gimmicks on my year 2000 peugeot are hazard warning lights and airbags.
The above stories fill me with dread. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

These fancy systems are being forced on manufacturers by the likes of NCAP and Thatcham before they are fit for purpose.
I've read stories about drivers having to waste time turning off stop start, auto handbrakes, auto cruise, etc. _________________ Satnav:

What happens if you obscure the camera lense on your car with insulation tape? Does the car still work?
Yes, i must admit that the first thing i do when hiring a car is look for the off buttons. Thankfully, im always hiring the budget models, so its normally just the radio, bluetooth, gps & handbrake i have to disable. I didn't appreciate how much more "stuff" there was. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Thankfully one button push switches off auto start/stop in both my and my wife's car. The rest is a menu setting that stays permanently off! _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way.
