I've uninstalled BaseCamp.
New maps out but I couldn't find 'easily' how to upgrade from 2018.01 to .02
None of the map options made any sense. I went through each one but none were relevent.
When I uninstalled it I found 3 earlier map sets still installed so it keeps everything
Has to be most user unfriendly program I had. Took a few hours to set and adjust a 70 mile route. Takes minutes in MapPoint. On some places, when I adjusted the route it put a loop in which I found very difficult to remove. Often had to start again.

Hmmmm ... I find it very easy. Express installs the maps to your PC for BC to use if you select the appropriate option in Express. Maps installed for BC can be uninstalled using Windows Control Panel.
Any route shouldn't take more than a few minutes.
Should be easy enough for a man of your calibre _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

It should do but I found it the most infuriating piece of software I've used, although TurboCAD is a close second.
Basecamp just wouldn't do what I wanted and I found navigating it hopeless.
The only reason I installed it was to get a door to door traffic check from Chez Krem to Eastbourne rather than just the next 10 miles or so when a route isn't plotted.
Doing the same scenario in MapPoint where you let it calculate then shape the route is so much easier, well I think so. _________________ Satnav:

You do the same in BaseCamp. Put in start and finish. Let it calculate. If you need to alter it you can 'rubber band' it. Simples _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I tried that and had to keep hitting undo because it didn't do it as I wanted. Add that to the map version issue plus I never did work out how the left side tree menu worked and I just got annoyed with it.
Anyway, uninstalled and I'll do without it. _________________ Satnav:

I probably am.
I haven't used it in a while but I had 2 'there and back' routes in there but only 1 was in the left side tree where expected and even then it was confusing because one direction appeared twice, again lower down. The other route appeared at a different tree level. Then it held some data at another tree position. Totally confusing to me.
It all worked in some logic only known to itself.
I can't remember the details now.
The final straw though was, when I installed 2018.01 I also installed to the Basecamp location. When I installed 2018.02 it ignored the fact that I had Basecamp installed and only installed to my PND's and left Basecamp running 2018.01.
I couldn't ne bothered to re download and install just because GE failed to remember what it did last time. _________________ Satnav:

GE doesn't remember so you do have to set it every time if you want it to download for BC. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I'm going to have a play: (when I get back off hols)
http://www.laptopgpsworld.com/5240-exporting-optimized-routes-microsoft-mappoint
Well well well, it only works
Create GPX file in Mappoint, copy GPX (Not via POILoader) to the Garmin GPX folder and presto - one route.
Basecamp 1 hour+ with faffing about, MapPoint, 2 to 3 minutes. _________________ Satnav:
