Regional makes me think UK only (not an issue).

Have a look at the retail outlet shop at TomTom as you could get a far more capable device such as the Go-750 Live for the same price as the UK&ROI XL IQ Live.
The units offered still come with a 12 month warranty and often users report they are just like new, only cheaper on the pocket, see Here - Mike

so is the device from argos usable direct from box ?

Or do i need to select from HOME which europe section ( zone ) i need ?

XL IQ has no memory card slot which is why you are rather limited by the map updates with that device as the update forces you to use the zonal maps.
The 750 Live has a MicroSD card slot that can accept memory cards up to and including 32GB in capacity, this is an easy way around the zonal maps issue, to be honest the 750 Live is a considerably better device than the XL IQ Live, the mount is easier to use, there are more features available from the Go range - Mike

many thanks for the help here people...

I currently have a TomTom XL IQ routes ( no live etc ) and had it hooked up to a RDS-TMC cable....However it looked horrible with the cable etc.

Was lookiing at the XL LIVE Europe TomTom which i undertsand came with a years free LIVE HD traffic ( still does ?) ..

As mentioned earlier i am driving to Disneyland paris in the Easter bank holiday and wanted a device to direct me....Got stung with the data charges before when i used google navigation on my phone..!!!!

Looking at the GO 750 it looks similair in spec to the XL LIVE....

So i am wondering what the actual difference is ?

I initially thought the GO 750 didnt have IQ routes....Not sure what impact that has had on my journeys anyway !!!

anyway over to the expects to advise

Sorry, for once I've not a lot of time to go into detail, but the Go750 is a higher spec. device than the XL Live.

One of the most boring but EXTREMELY useful extras on the Go is that it has an SD card slot for expansion, so you will be able to use it for the FULL Europe maps which are now larger than 2GB. The XL LIVE doesn't.

The Go750 also has Bluetooth for handsfree calls.

It also has text to speech voices so can read street and town names and distances.
