Excellent news. (if anyone's wondering I found a copy of a similar version to what was anted)

Now don't forget to make another backup straight away!

Oh, and can I have a pint of Landlord instead? Most Guinness seems a bit cold for my liking these days. Cheers!

Let it stand on the bar for at least five minutes for the perfect temperature.

As for an early Navcore for the XL IQ Live This is one such example, although there are others, this is the earliest I can find for the device in question - Mike

Here's what I PMed to Paddy

Quote:
Hi Paddy.

I've had a damn good search and can't find any download link for v8.420 or even any reference to it.
However, I have found v8.419 if you want to try that.

Download the file from here:
HERE

That will produce a "cab" archive file, and there are two ways to continue from here....

I think you can put the .cab file into Home's program folder (C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\complete\program), but you need to REMOVE any newer version from there or Home will ignore it.

But I try to avoid Home as much as possible, so I would go for the manual way to install it. It will be a little tricky but here's the way I would do it.

First you will need a program such as WinRar to de-compress the .cab file (free download of WinRar from HERE).

Once WinRar is installed, you should end up with new items on the right-click menu when you click on the downloaded .cab file.
So, right click on it and select "Extract to 8.419....." (Don't just use "Extract here" or you will end up with files everywhere!).

That should produce a single folder containing a set of sub-folders (with the same names as some of the ones on the TomTom itself) and a bunch of loose files.

You need to copy and paste those files into the same places on the XL, replacing the versions already there and I can never remember how good Windows is at replacing files in sub-folders with older ones, so I cop-out and do it manually folder by folder!
