I've taken the advice offered re changing the night colour for day colour but when all is said and done, my 750 does not auto dim when dark. Conclusion...pants |

Extract from the x50 manual:-
Can my GO make this change automatically?
Yes. Your GO has a light sensor to tell when it is getting dark.
To change to night and day colours automatically, tap Brightness preferences in the Preferences menu. Then select Switch to night view when dark.
It seems that TomTom think it has a light sensor |

It does have a light level sensor fitted but Steven is quite correct that its been disabled and switches between day/ night mode are handled via GPS location and time of day.
I had forgotten about this to be honest, the x40 devices were never very good at adjusting the screen brightness relative to ambient conditions and the x50 units running Navcore 9 were even worse so TomTom decided to take a different approach.
I guess their (TomTom) manual is out of date as it reflects on how the device was intended to work when it was first created, these days it behaves subtly different - Mike |

At least the new system is a bit more predictable |

But that means it stays blindingly bright when you go through a tunnel in the day-time. |

Quite Andy! The x50 devices DO have the sensor in, just Tomtom can't or won't get them working properly. So instead of fixing the code that makes them work, they have simply copied the code from the less expensive models to auto change the day/night mode! _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE
