I thought you said
Quote: | when driving North it shows South |
which is why i didn't suggest the normal TT compass confussion because normally the complaint is that it only has East and West the wrong way round.... |

Because I was driving in a new US location I was guestimating where I thought the pointer should be pointing and felt it was displaying 180 out. Having done a simulated route I know see how I interpreted the pointer display incorrectly and that my guestimation of North was off too.
Thanks for the help though. I now know how to capture screenshots, run route tests and interpret the compass pointer! |

My Tomtom has compass preferences:
1) None
2) Arrow always points to the North
3) Arrow shows current heading
4) Arrow points to destination.
You have option 2 selected, perhaps you need to select option 3???

Sounds like you have an older version of software installed. Somewhere around V8, the big compass got changed to a small one that can only point north. _________________ Gerry

One reply from TT customer service:
Quote: | Dear Mr xxxxxx
With the latest Version 8 software update, many new changes and features have been implemented with this update. One of which is that the Compass feature has changed.
The Compass is now shown as a small icon in the bottom left hand corner of the main Navigation screen and points to the North only. Because of these changes, it is no longer possible to point to your destination or direction of travel.
At TomTom, we take all customer feedback seriously. If the new style compass is something that is not to your liking and you preferred the functionality of the old style compass, please reply back with some details of how you used the old style compass and some suggestions of how to improve the new compass. We will pass this information to our 2nd line team and product management teams and it is possible that the new compass feature will be improved yet again with more functionality. |

Don't see the benefit of removing functionality. It only takes a bit of code to let us have 3 options - Point North, Point to Destination, Point to heading.
More choice the better, though I guess some get confused if too many options. |

The display area needed for the larger (older style) compass has been used for other features on some devices and would have clashed on the display, I very much doubt we will ever see the old style compass make a return irrespective of the number of complaints - Mike |
