Hi Calomax
As far as I am aware the route is planned using the waypoints in the order as one has entered them. And it does this admirably. However, I wish Tyre (or indeed any other programme) was capable of doing as you suggest. For example…..Suppose I had 12 deliveries in London it would be great if I could enter all 12 delivery points and tyre work out the best/quickest/ route to go.
Now, if Tomtom was to give that option that would be far better than all the bells and whistles that the back room boys seem to keep coming up with. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Hi Oldboy
Its been along time since I last looked at Autoroute and was unaware that it could do as you suggested. I will now investigate. _________________ Tomtom Go 720.

Plan the route and then click "Optimize stops" - it keeps first and last (but it will happily accept same point as both, to give a circular trip). _________________ Dennis

But that's why Tyre can work with EITHER Google Maps (for when you're on-line - maybe at an internet cafe) or with Google Earth for when you're off-line. |

Sorry, Andy.......it's a terrific site for North American users wanting to know how to get TYRE to work with their TomTom's. I suggest it all the time to my members. Forgot that the instructions are North American-centric (is there such a term? ).
But it is a valid point you make.
(mind you, I think Mike can attest to the frequency I post links to this site because of the good answers found here. Often, they are YOUR posts!! ) _________________ David |

I was under the impression that Google Earth needed an internet connection also as it streamed the maps/images from a Google server.
Though seeing the wink in the post does kinda suggest that i have misinerpreted some humour . |

Google Maps is streamed from the server. Google Earth is downloaded and installed on your computer as a program. I don't know if it downloads regular updates though. _________________ TT Go Essential |

My version of Google Earth does indeed download data to draw maps. It's not a lot, but it is necessary. _________________ Richard

There is no way that within a 10-15MB (can't remember exact amount but it is about there) download can hold all the mapping and image data for Google Earth. There used to be a NASA program that was similar to GE that didn't stream its images ad its download was 100-200MB.
If you have a read of http://www.realityprime.com/articles/how-google-earth-really-works this it explains how GE works. It definetly needs and internet connection to work. |
