Solar panel charger

Thanks, guys. I'll save my money then, and keep my fingers crossed that the socket in the hire car is OK. I must admit I've never hired a car where it hasn't functioned properly. I'm obviously getting paranoid in my old age!

It is unlikely that the socket in the car will fail. They have heavy wiring so the worst that is likely to happen is that the fuse has gone and this could easily be fixed.

The possibility probably wouldn't have occurred to me, but a few months ago I was going with some friends to a location none of us knew, so I said I'd take the TomTom, only to find when I plugged it in that it wasn't charging. The driver then remembered that when he'd tried to use the socket it hadn't worked. The car was, at most, a couple of years old.

I suppose the experience has made me cautious. I'll just have to remember to check the device is charging before accepting the hire car.
