By the way, my suggestion that they bring back the old compass has been passed to the black hole they call "2nd line support". Has anyone EVER had a reply from that team?
I did better than you. My suggestion for the compass was passed to their "second line experts".

I will pass along the message to our second line experts. Its not a guarantee that it will be on the next version, but the more people that request this, the more they will pay attention to this.
Both departments also show up in a folder in my email programme - it is called "deleted items" _________________ Alan

You can also see it from the other direction. They sell an easy-to-use bit of kit that works out of the box. It's only when you want to do extra things like updating maps, taking a FULL backup etc that people start having problems.
I disagree. I meet a lot of people who have never attached their TT to a computer and still have problems with bits not working properly. They roll their eyes when I say it needs to be updated and maintained. Most of these people don't have computers and get really hacked off with TT because they dont know how to fix the stuff and TT don't mention, on the packaging, or anywhere else in the sales bumf that it really is essential to have a home computer to use a TT stand alone satnav, if you want it to work properly. This suits me as I can charge them for looking after the maintenance of their TT devices as well as servicing their car for them.
Also, if TT just want to sell an easy to use bit of kit with no support, why do they put all the bells and whistles on in the first place? At least 50% of users have no idea what the machine is capable of and just use the navigate to home function, if they have found out how to set a home location, which many haven't.
I get the feeling that there is a constant war going on within TT. The beancounters on one side and the techies on the other, with the techies just putting stuff into the devices to let people play with it and the beancounters on the other side trying to extract as much dosh from joe public as possible. _________________ Asus zenFone Android CamerAlert
