I have a sneaky suspicion that person who wrote the software for TomTom's firmware is the same person who maaaaany years ago wrote the code for compter operating systems in DOS days such that when the cable from the keyboard wasn't connected to the cpu and you booted up, you got the screen message:
Keyboard not connected --- press any key to continue! _________________ David |

Is that really true David, or just a very good computer joke?
I never had it happen to me anyway, but probably because I never forgot to connect the keyboard before switching on.
Good old DOS - I remember I once went into a computer shop where the spotty assistant regularly demonstrated his skills by erasing all the junk the schoolkids typed on the display models, flashing his supreme fingers across the keyboard and smirking proudly.
So I secretly typed...
Prompt Wrong password, Please enter correct password. And hit Enter a few times. And went over the other end of the shop and sneakily watched him struggle! _________________ Dennis

Honest, Dennis..........true story. (Actually, it said 'Press F1 to continue')
I rember teaching high school computer courses back in 1970. When I think how far we've all come in less than 40 years with technology ..
And now, I complain because a sattelite signal from hundreds of miles away causes my car icon to be 20 feet from the road I'm on!
Sorta puts things in perspective........
Now: back to our regular programming.............

Agree with Darren it does seem counterintuitive... though I admit I might not be the brightest one in the bunch, seeing that I still can't remember the difference between the hall and the landing light switch 10 years after moving in.
(Love that word! (the second one that is). That goes on my use-a-new-useful-word-twice-a-day-for-a-week) list. |

It seems counter-intuitive, but if you can imagine it done the other way, personally I think it would be even worse! |

How about the icon saing 'Turn Lane Images off' if they are already set to on and the icon saying 'turn lane images on' if they are currently set to off?
That way, the icon will function similar to the 'show more menu options' if fewer is the setting ang 'show fewer menu options' if you have more as the current setting.
I feel the confusion lies with the inclusion of the red X through the icon. _________________ David |

Have I missed an important application update here? Mine either reads "Hide lane images" or "Show lane images" and to the best of my recollection, if I tap "Hide lane images", the lane images are hidden, whereas if I tap "Show lane images", they are shown. Should I be confused by these outcomes? _________________ Dennis

Not at all.......I'm just saying I don't think the red X should be there at all. I feel that the presence of it can cause confusion to users ... well, uh, me _________________ David |

No, not just you, David. I agree it would be much clearer if it just said "Hide lane images" or "Show lane images". The red X could be taken as cancelling the text, a bit like a double negative. Although, to be fair, the X is through the picture of the lane images, not the text, but it can still cause confusion. _________________ Anita

Without the red X, the pictures would be identical I presume, leaving you reliant on reading at some distance from your eyes when driving (when you're not supposed to be reading at some distance from your eyes ). I'd guess the red cross is a fairly universal "End" or "Off" signal (but then, I'm the fool who guessed that the button bearing the universal power icon would turn off my GO920 properly if I pressed it). _________________ Dennis

Is it ALG or the full screen junction images you've turned off? In my experience, the only way to turn off ALG is to align the status bar vertically on the screen. |

ALG is in Status Bar Preferences, untick a box (third page of Status Bar preferences). _________________ Dennis
