So maybe it wasn't just the "lane guidance" icon issue that made them pull the v8 software for the x20's? |

It's OK on my 720 with app v8.010, but I downloaded the new app via HOME during the brief time it was available. Maybe it's only the manual installation that causes the problem. _________________ Anita

It shouldnt make any difference how or where it was downloaded. The softwear is either right or not. Others say their 720's work fine. So I think the problem lies in the application softwear, in that what I have may be corrupt. Its in either
data.chk
data_li.chk
system
ttsystem
or
libaec.so
I'm not sure which of these deals with the menus. I havent got a different downloaded version of v8.010 to try swapping. _________________ GO 750 LIVE v9.430 - v8.753612 EU map

latest UPDATE
I have replaced 'Helpme' folder.
I have a fresh download of 8.010 which I have done a manual upload.
I have done a 30 sec pin reset.
I have 'restored to factory setting'.
I have replaced the Dr, Dentist etc .ov2 /inf files.
I've even polished the screen......
I still have the problem....... don't know what to try next _________________ GO 750 LIVE v9.430 - v8.753612 EU map

Hi
When I updated the application software dentists, doctors etc were greyed out ,I then updated the map to v720 and all returned to normal.

The map is about the only thing I havent replaced, but its an expensive thing to try. I will wait til v8 map comes out.
I have found that if you connect the 720 to the PC that resets it (all icons back) until next time they are selected.
I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the manual download rather than vis HOME.
I would be interested to here from anyone with the same or similar problem and how they installed v8 (Manual or HOME). _________________ GO 750 LIVE v9.430 - v8.753612 EU map

As I stated earlier, I have two of the help me categories greyed out after I look at them, I updated through home so it isn't the manual updates that do it. |

Not much to be honest, I'm expecting that it is something Tomtom has done rather than me. It seems that even among owners of the same units, some people experience problems that others don't, I've replaced the 'help me' files, and done the resets but as yet, I still have the problem. I also have a problem with the unit taking 3 minutes to 'wake up' after disconnecting from the pc, even though I disconnect using the approved method. I also seem to drop to about 90% brightness even when 100% is selected and my antitheft bmp is now very dim, all these seem to affect users to varying degrees. It's no big deal to me at the moment, when these problems affect my navigation I'll get more annoyed. |

I have updated my ONE to v8.010 and find I have the same problem. I have now sent TT an email:-
I have just uploaded v8.010 from your web site for my ONE 3rd edition Europe with map 710. There seems to be a problem that was not there before the upload. When selecting 'Help me' and 'Drive to Help' I find all 6 icons available to me, fine so far. If I select any of them I will be given a list, then if I select 'Back' I find that some of the original 6 icons are now greyed out and I am unable to select them unless I do a reset on the unit.
I also have a GO 720 and updated that to v8.010 before you pulled the update, the same thing happens with that.
Clearly you have an issue with v8.010.
Can you tell me how I can fix this problem or when Tomtom will be issuing an update to the update.
Thank you.
Be interesting to see what comes back - I will post. _________________ GO 750 LIVE v9.430 - v8.753612 EU map

Having re-read this entire thread it would appear you have performed a manual install of 8,010 and were previously running 7,221 - when Home installs the 8,010 release it first of all updates the device to 7,481 - I think this is the missing step.
Ty putting 7,481 on the device then install 8,010 and try it again, there could be one or two vital files that are needed from the 7,481 update - Mike |

I updated only through Home yet some of my 'help me' icons are greyed out, I also had 7.481 before 8.010. |

Its a good idea Mike, but I've read the comment from bensonboo, also I have the same problem with my ONE (see above) It just seems to me that TT's software is just unstable. Some work OK others have all sorts of problems. We then end up being TT's QC dept. _________________ GO 750 LIVE v9.430 - v8.753612 EU map

I don't see how you can say that when TT have "pulled" the offending software!
At present moment they do not think you should have v8 on anything but an x30 model, so you can't really blame them when it all goes wrong, can you? |
