i'm trying to find an address in town i live: andover
address of the house is clarence court(it's the name of the house) and the street is bridgestreet. when i put postcode sp103fd it finds different street: western avenue. can anyone tell me why is it so?
Postcodes are, unfortunately not as accurate as some would believe, or most wish for.

In a lot of cases the problem lays in the fact that the Postcode location can lay between 2 roads, and if it's in the middle it looks for the nearest, which can be wrong. They can also cover a large area.

In your example, it lays the wrong side of a dual carriageway.

If you find that the wrong street appears when you input a Postcode, I've found that the best way to overcome the problem is to use Find in Browse Map. If you tap the adjacent Streets one of the will be correct.

You can then use Cursor Icon | Navigate there.

It's not an ideal solution, but there's little TT can do about the accuracies of the OS data on Postcodes.

A couple more points for you too ponti. In most cases, the postcode covers more than one house - mine covers half our road full, so SP10 3FD could be the start of Postman Pat's walk. There are also postcodes which are for the nearest post office, or sorting office. I find that in the vast majority of cases, postcode is really good. Not much consolation to you in this instance though.

Well, when I looked up your address, it seems you live somewhere so small you don't need a car, or a satnav, but if you have them you can avoid the embarrassment of running out of petrol to get home, by carrying an aspirin bottle full in your glove box and get home from "lost" by simply climbing out and shouting "MUMMY". Laughing Laughing Laughing Where I go to, on the other hand, I once had a delivery to a postcode which would put me precisely onto Hammersmith Flyover.

DennisN,

I assume from your amended signature that you have been paid a visit
by some little sh**s who wished to own a satnav?

Sorry to hear about your misfortune.

Apolgies to all for being off-post.

A dual carriageway is a road that comprises of two seperate carriageways.

Dual means two.

Carriageway means a construction that is built for traffic to use.

In a Dual Carriageway the Traffic will flow in one direction only on each part.

This is a case where the TT postcode is just plain wrong.
According to the PostOffice SP103FD is ONLY Clarence Court (on Bridge Street) nos 1-44.
I get similar for a postcode in Wimbledon which is only a block of flats.
So it seems if your postcode solely refers to a block of flats it may not even get the road right.
