I have lost patience with with the upgrading procedure.
Since my last post I have been trying to update my satnav and here are my findings. (sorry if they are duplicated in this post)

from the site - http://mooshikam.mio-tech.be/updates/miomap I have noticed that it will not allow you to download the floowing files;

    miomap.exe-bak
    data.zip-bak
    greece.fbl-bak
For some reason my skybroadband completes my download at 72M even if the files are 172M like for Fance. I have a BT connection and am in the process of downloading the bigger files. I'll complain to Sky at a later date.

Has anyone got the data.zip and the miomap.exe for the v3.2. I think that once I have these files I should be good to go

Also Iam not sure but there are 2 files which have gpstmc and I was wondering if one if them is for traffic master and the other for ITIS. I will experiment with that later or at least after I have my satnav running with
Dave,

I'll have a look and see if I have the files and if I can put them somewhere for you.

As for your call to Mio. I can't find the details - never can when I need something - but I'm pretty sure you have grounds for making a complaint to ICSTIS if you were forced to hold for the period you state.

Mitac needs a kick up the backside in terms of its customer service and it is really unacceptable that people are treated in this way (and forced to pay premium rates in to the bargain).

Gareth.

Thanks Gareth,
I need more than a kick. Twisted Evil

I have also told them to disable the link to v3.2 or re-enable the v3.2 version 1 upgrade.
I'm sill currently restoring the the miomap v3.1 as I type.

Totally fed up with Mio. I strayed from TomTom for similar reasons

If I leave Mio where would I go. Crying

I tried updating my wife's Mio...

...it went through the motions of downloading from Mio and uploading to the unit

...NO error messages were given :P

...BUT MioMap and the country maps remained unchanged :o

SO after about an hour or so of waiting for files to download/upload, I'm in exactly the same position as I was before I started :x

Why do Mio make the update procedure to time consuming and complicated - only to find that the flaming thing hasn't worked Question Exclamation Crying

Thanks Gareth,
I tried last night and it didn't work.
I was up until 4am trying to restore back to Miomap V3.1. I have wasted so much time on tupgrading I will have to accept defeat. I have asked Mio to send me V3.2 via CD but I know that I have no chance of that.
Pure quality expensive support from Mio, Thats all I can say.

A question to all,
Can anyone tell me from the list of files from the Mio site http://mooshikam.mio-tech.be/updates/miomap what additional files do I need.
I have downloaded all the files that can be downloaded so that excludes the following;
    greece.fbl-bak
miomap.exe-bak (I have now supplied by Gareth) Thanks Not Worthy
data.zip-bak (I have now supplied by Gareth) Thanks Not Worthy

Please help

Hi everyone

I’m glad I found this thread. I have also tried the update to V3.2 and it updated everything except the application (at least after a few attempts. The updater is ridiculous unstable).

I contacted support by email and they replied with the following information: (translated from Norwegian)
Due to problems with the tmc version in software V3.2 we have removed the application update, maps and languages will still be updated. The application update will be put back as soon as the tmc settings are added.

By the way, can I just replace the miomap.exe and data.zip if I can get hold of them? I have installed the transfer hack. Maybe someone could give me a hint of where to get the necessary files?

cheers!

Perhaps somebody would be kind enough to let us all know when the updater is back up and fully operational. :P

Yes. I wouldn't even bother trying anything else until the update is back on line. I'm sure it will be worth the wait. If Mitac can address the TMC bugs then, from what I've seen of the latest 3.2 version, it will be worth waiting for. It's an improvement on the earlier version and it just feels more stable as well.

That's ignoring the ITIS/Trafficmaster "which is better" debate though.

Here is solution:

user Mio transfer Hack, go to MyFlashDisk\Mio\MioMap\ [don't remember exact path, but it's in MioMap main folder where is exe file]

find iGO.db and delete it, restart device.

No more Fatal error.

I registered an account just to say a big Thank You AmoK.
I searched for about 6 hours in total for a solution for the Fatal Error problem. no solution was on the Mio site, and I didn't fancy ringing their crappy technically support.

Your solution worked, saved me sending my unit in for repair, it may even be out of date.

Such an easy resolution too.

Thanks Again

Wow, impressive eh? The beauty of forum support is worth its weight in gold.

I wonder how long messages are kept for before being deleted?

Your chance of getting an answer to your problem today - if an answer didn't already exist - is probably nil Crying or Very sad

These devices are all but dead with little remaining user base. They gave way to better devices of course. Except, unfortunately, they didn't.
