I can't get POI's at all, tried Firefox, Explorer, Camino etc etc and all corrupted zips - dropping them onto Stuffit makes no difference whatsoever.
Do these Pocket GPS World guys offer any support?
The system used to be good a few years back but it seems totally out of control now.
Lots of bits don't work and navigating (no pun intended) around this site is a complete nitemare. |

As you mention "Stuffit", I presume you are using a Mac?
There has been quite a lot of discussion about downloading the speedcam zips on Macs in the Speed Camera Database Forum
Maybe worth trying a "Search" |

I've been reading through a number of these threads which I've found very helpful since updating my TT700 to 6.520 and reloading everything and many POI's only to find they wouldn't work - (164 custom POI's) - Now having reduced them to under 100 it works! - thanks for the tips!
Question is (hope I'm in right forum) how does one 'combine sub categories into combined categories' - can someone direct me to a topic or some simple answers as I would like to be able to access a few more POI's. I've got POIEdit 2007 but haven't found anything there to guide me - am I missing something? |

POI Edit can do what you want very easily, but the language used is a bit weird!
Open up your first POI file with File / Open...,
then add the second and third etc. with File / Append....
This adds them all into the on-screen list, and you can then just File / Save as... to save them as a new, combined category. |

Thanks Andy - I'll have a go at that tonight - not quite sure just reading it but probably will be able to work through it - look out for further questions though! _________________ TT 700

Andy - just thinking more about how to do this, have I got this process clear:
Do I create the category I want with TomTom i.e. say 'Banks' as a POI which I then File / Open - is that the .OV2 file?
When I File / Append are they just the .OV2 files?
Or
Do I just open an existing sub category; append others and then
File / Save as... 'Banks' - the new category I want?
Is there a known limit to the number of appends?
What happens about the .BMP; .INF files for each sub category - do I have to carry out the same procedure seperately?
Sorry there are so many questions but you seem to know what your doing. |

The second of the ways you mentioned is correct.
You first Open an existing File and then Append others. Then Save As 'Banks'.
You can only have 1 BMP for the newly created 'Banks' File, and it has to have the same name as the 'Banks' OV2. The Inf File is not needed.
I don't know if there is a limit to the number of Files that can be appended. _________________ Richard

To come back to the original question. If the combined download doesn't work right, select the "show link" option. Combined with the Garmin format it should allow you to download everything. _________________ Lutz

I am not aware of any progress. Nobody has yet come up with a bright idea where to look - the server has enough memory, and the behaviour is different between different browsers. Go figure. _________________ Lutz
