I forgot one MAJOR step. make sure you only load this onto a blank Transflash card otherwise you will wipe the original that came with the unit.
I would also suggest that you also back up your original card(you will need a transflash reader of similar) to your hard drive just in case you you ever do make a mistake.( i did and i copied it back to the original transfalsh card- phew!!)
I have one of the older i3 ie with maps stored on the external transflash card. I don't know about the new i3's but if any else does perhaps they can share their knowledge _________________ i3 2.70(went to 2.82,3.0,3.1 but downgraded) with V8 map on microSD card

Cheers mate for you help in making it a bit more clearer for me.
I havent bought a spare transflash card yet unsure to buy a 1gb or 512mb or even a 2gb, have read about putting to much on one card slowing the device down, maybe better using a couple of 512mb instead of 1gb what you recon.

stick to 256 or 512,metrowizz will only let you transfer files upto 512 anyway.and you will find just putting on the card what you require gives better results(don't go for overkill) i am using a 512 card with no problems. |

Yes, I agree with Elraco1 512 mb is the one to go for! I wouldn't bother buying two unless you are driving round the Whole of Europe in one go. Don't forger you won't need to load UK as this is on your other card _________________ i3 2.70(went to 2.82,3.0,3.1 but downgraded) with V8 map on microSD card

The level of detail (quality) between City Navigator v8 and Metroguide v8 will be exactly the same
The only difference being that CN is in a NT version meaning that the compression is better and therefore the overall size of Europe (all maps) is smaller .
Other difference: CN is managing the roundabouts while MG does not as stated by Beerbellybill999.
I have MG V7 and it is working very well everywhere in Europe
I have already tested it in UK (I have CN France on my i3), Germany, Italy, Switzerland; Greece and Spain !
