However, if you are unsure of this, I would send the unit back to Garmin... |
Are there really any hidden files? How many files should it be in the Garmin-folder? |

I haven't checked, but on another forum there is a thread about how to backup a Nuvi, and it talks about ensuring you include hidden files. |

I formatted my drive and put all the old files back and now it works!!
A tip to all others who have the same problem. But it requires you to have a backup of course. |

Indeed (and glad you are sorted). I take a backup of all files after applying each firmware update.
Also, if you constantly update your Favourites, it's worth backing them up too (I've had mine corrupt once, although in a fixable way). |

Hi, I`ve just come across this thread and have had the same problem with missing map info (minor roads missing).
I made a back-up of the unit when I first got it so all the original files were available.
Before I messed around with the current set up I backed up again and the back-up report told me that file "gmapprom" was corrupt. I then tried to copy and paste this file from the original back-up only to be told that there wasn`t enough space left so I deleted some mp3/language/etc. files and voila! it`s now back to how it should be.
The moral of this story (at least for me) - always do a back-up and don`t download lots of junk you don`t need to the unit. |
