Hmm! I had totally forgotten that it was there until I noticed it when I checked all the settings after reloading my favourites. That probably explains a chunk of the odd routing issues that I have experienced, though I presume that it picks up the "trends' from its own experience rather than anything else, so it would not explain many of the 'failures' that I have had in mainland Europe.
Backup seems somewhat illogical in selecting what to preserve - it backs up the xls files of the previously selected journey starts and ends but not the 'hisory' of destinations for 'Where to'. Nor were my custom avoidances backed up and it is not clear where these are stored Does the restore bring back the unit's experience of my favoured speeds for the various types of road? My unit is a Nuvi2598

TrafficTrends are out there via a file that is updated when you update your map, so it might explain issues in Europe. I'm in France every six weeks or so and routing there is fine.
As for backing up, history isn't backed up. All back up does is back up current.gpx file, although I tend to back up by importing my data into BaseCamp, that way I know exactly what I've backed up. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way.
