Yes I think I'm coming to the end too. Just one observation that occurs to me looking at these pictures is that the garmin has the written directions at the top of the screen but tomtom doesn't. I use the written directions on the i3 at least as much as the map and would probably miss them.

One more question about the lag that many people have commented on. Is it worse than the lag on the i3? If it's better than the i3 then it's not that bad. If worse it might give me a problem.

Don't you still need to tap the screen to activate the speech input even with the remote? If I recall correctly, some screen input is still required to input addresses even with the remote.

No idea for speech input as I dont use it (TT nor supporting my native language), address entry (letters, numbers) is no problem with remote.

As for text info vs arrows I found the arrows to be much more informative, especially for roundabouts, as the text info "take 1st/2nd/3rd etc. exit" dont give me the information how the exit is situated in relation of roundabout entry, hence I sometime dont know the lane I should be on, untill I will be able to see Garmin on map arrow.

The arrow on status bar will give me that information much earlier, so I can switch the lane much earlier if needed.

Also arrow is quicker to glance than the long text information.

You can live and get used to both solutions, but the arrows are simpler
and easier to understand in quick glance. Exactly the same reason we have images on road signs and not long text information Smile

Kichu, Garmin does offer text, traffic and voice in your native language if you ever decide to try one out.

Sorry to repeat myself but in final throws of deciding. Been a very interesting discussion. Things becoming much clearer now. I now know for certain that I haven't a clue which to buy! Lag issue could be the final clincher.

I know, I had 760 for a while. I was only reffering that TomTom does not support computerized voice and speech/voice input/recognition in my language.

Except for that polish is supported in both device.

Thanks anyway Smile

Can't comment on i3, but basing on my experience I can safelt say that with Garmin you might expect the situations that you are on the junction or just passing the road you intended to turn into, while graphic image on your PND shows you are just before the turn and the next image refresh takes you past this turn/junction.

On the other hand, the 'distance to turn' meter don't lag at all, so when driving with Garmin I was rather looking at that number instead of my
on screen position while deciding if it's time to turn in complex situations.

Hope this helps Smile

I purchased a Garmin 360 a year or so ago and got so frustrated with it that I now have the TOMTOM 760. Now I dont know how many advances have been made with the new Garmin, but for me the TT is miles better much more friendly and dosent take me off main routes onto country lanes. I thought the Garmin was the worst decision I ever made.

Oh well. I went and had a play with both again and decided that I would go with the Garmin as I am used to the i3. I like the look of it. Have a friend whose in the market for a sat nav and will try to get him to get tt720 so we can do direct comparison. Will put my experience with 760 on reviews page.

Thanks Gatorguy. Dangerous thing to say. I can see myself taking you up on that especially after the problems I'm now having with my i3 having tried to refamiliarise myself with web uploader and poi loader. It is now not working at all!
