|
|
Hi all,
I am new here, and would really appreciate any advice on an issue I am having with my Garmin Nuvi 215w.
I am trying to install European Maps on my GPS. However, I am having problems getting the Nuvi to read my SD card (it would seem). I have the gmapsupp file on my SD card, but when I try to enable the European maps through settings, map, map info, there is no option to 'check' the box and enable it.
I have already tried formatting the SD card.
Thanks in advance. |

Your problem will be that those early nuvis can't read map files larger than 2Gb, and the full EU map is way more than that. The solution is to send part of the map to your device and the rest to the card.
You'll need to download the map to your PC then use MapInstall to send part of the map to the card, use Express (first) to download whichever map region you wish to your nuvi. There is more detail here, although the FAQ is aimed more at devices that won't allow Express to recognise the card.

This sounds a bit like another post on the RAC device. Too much fiddling around to achieve what should be a simple job and would have been if they had put enough [s]RAM[/s] Memory in the damn things in the first place, rather than just enough.
Bum. [s] [/s]doesn't do strikethrough here

It actually has nothing to do with RAM _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |

I know that you know that I know that. Slip of the finger. Now corrected. (but at least I spelled it correctly) |

It's not a memory issue either. That model is an old nuvi and can't read files greater than 2Gb, it's software limiting it not memory
However some earlier models got updated software so can read map files up to 4Gb. _________________ Where there's a will ... there's a way. |
