My TT 540 works perfectly when docked and operated via HOME. However, when disconnected it refuses to boot past the first screen (in my case a photo that I have been using for at least 12 months). After sitting on this for about 30-40 seconds it then switches to a black screen with the TT logo in the centre - and then tries to boot again. It will do this until it's switched off or the battery gives up.
I have formatted the device (full format) and then pasted the backup copy - but no joy. I have also reinstalled the application (9.430) but still no joy. It's weird (well, to me anyway) that everything operates normally when docked, but nothing happens when un-docked.
Is it operating from the Device or are you using an SD card?. If the device, try copying everything to a spare SD card and re-booting from there. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

Thanks for your quick reply. Everything is on the internal memory.
Since posting - and a further lengthy search for a remedy - I eventually found another similar post for a GO that was refusing to boot, and this suggested that a full format followed by a reinstall via HOME, and then re-loading the map from the backup, might do the trick. I'm pleased to report that this has worked and the unit now seems to be functioning correctly again.
Thanks again, and sorry to have troubled you (and what a great site this is!).
