Thinking of getting my custom map changed to take 1:25k and 1:10k. How Accurate is the 1:10k. I know it depends on signal, but i often get a range of 13 to 6 feet.
Where can i find samples of 1:10k. Just wondered if its worth getting for walking through villages and towns. 1:25k is perfect for rural walking, but gets a little fussy in towns when walking through. e.g Walking through New Mills was a hard task as there were so many paths canals and streets in close proximity.

You can get samples to view on your PC from the Ordnance Survey website downloads page - see the OS StreetView section. (You can have the whole country if you're greedy, like me!).
You can view the .tif files in Windows Picture Viewer, or import them into MemoryMap if you have that.

Hi,
You can also view them interactively on the bikehike website, see this thread.
Also, if you've upgraded Memory Map to v5.4.x (personally I prefer to stick with the easier licensing of v5.1.3 ) the OS 10k maps are a FREE download from the Digital Map Shop. Yes, all 10GB+ if you wish (which is rather easier than downloading and stitching together the almost 20GB of 5km square tiles in TIF/QCT format as supplied by the OS).
Cheers, Alan.
PS: I'm doubly greedy, I have the whole GB 1:10k in both .QCT and .QC3 (DMS) formats. _________________ Garmin GPS72H/76/60/45, Etrex H, Mapsource v6.5.
