Not sure whether to post this question here on in the TomTom software part of Forum….
Considering getting the TomTom app for an iPhone 4, I will mainly be using in UK, but once or maybe twice a year may need to use in Europe.
Trying to decide whether to opt or the full Europe version which is the most expensive, or just the UK version and then the Europe Version if and when I need it.
My questions are;
1. As the Europe version will presumably be a larger file, I assume it will take up more space on the iPhone, but will it run more slowly as a result?
I seem to remember when running the full Europe map on my old TT PND’s movement on the map seemed jerkier and route calculation took longer, which I assumed was as a result of the larger map file.
2. If I were to wait until I needed European coverage and then purchased that app seperately, would I get a more up to date map, I have heard that currently the maps that the iPhone app uses tend to be updated regularly and for free? |

The Europe app is around 2GB in storage capacity which is considerably more than the regional UK&ROI app, there doesn't seem to be any noticable difference in screen refresh rates when using either app on the same iPhone.
So far all app updates from TomTom for the iPhone have included a new map version and have been issued free, how long this will continue is anyones guess - MIke |

Thanks again Mike!
Is there any noticeable difference in time taken to calculate a route between the small UK & Ireland and the large Europe?
I seem to remember it being a pain if you took a wrong turning and then have to wait for ages for it to recalculate the entire remaining route on a PND using a large map
I have just run a test route calculation on my GO 740, when using the full Europe Map it took 1:22 when using just Western Europe sector it only took 0:42 |

No, I am asking whether this issue I experienced on a PND is evident also on the iPhone app. |
